Thompson
If you have not already done so, I highly recommend that you watch this. It is Fred Thompson’s appeal to the nation.
I was honestly surprised at how this struck me. There were no policy shockers or vigorous attacks on other candidates, there was only a sincere and dignified man appealing to reason.
Dignity and character. I don’t think I’ve seen that in any campaign for any office in a long time. Look at the rest of the candidates. Compared to this guy, they all look like junkyard dogs fighting over a bone.
Thomas Jefferson refused to actively campaign for his second term in office. He basically said that if the people want him on his merits, they will vote for him. And if they don’t want him on his merits, if he is forced to put on a dog-and-pony show to get elected, then he doesn’t belong in office. That is what Thompson’s video reminds me of.
I think the response of the populace to the Thompson campaign will be telling. What do the people really want? Integrity and character? Or bread and circuses? We will see, shortly.

Dang. That was good.
I fear what the people want.

And here’s why I fear it.

Agreed completely.

Well, AF, I have to tell you something. I’ve never gotten heartily on board a politician’s bandwagon before. But since I watched that clip, I’ve donated to Fred’s campaign, joined Friends of Fred, and I’m emailing people.
Thanks for the tip.

Agreed. I’ve been with Fred since before he announced. I’ll send a few more bucks in the next week or two.

I add my small donation a couple of days before the first Red Truck drive (the one for media time in Iowa). I also have never made donation. I have never before sent an email to my email “buds” to consider a candidate either.
Fred is a individual for whom I can vote because I like what I see and hear, not because he is the lesser of two evils.
We have an opportunity here. I hope the electorate “gets it” so we get Fred.
